Honey
Where does your honey come from?
Our honey comes directly from our own hives, located in the rural village of Welburn in North Yorkshire.
How do you harvest your honey?
We harvest gently and responsibly, removing only excess honey so the bees always have what they need. The honey is filtered lightly to remove wax particles but is otherwise untouched.
Is your honey organic or raw?
Our honey isn’t organic, as the bees roam freely over the surrounding countryside.
Our honey is raw, meaning it’s never heated or pasteurised - this preserves the natural enzymes, pollen, and flavour.
Why does the colour and flavour of honey vary?
The bees forage on seasonal flowers, which gives the honey a unique colour and flavour dependent on the season.
How should I store honey to keep it fresh?
Keep honey at room temperature, away from direct sunlight. Honey doesn't spoil, but proper storage maintains its texture and flavour.
What do I do if my honey crystallises?
Crystallisation is completely normal for raw honey. In fact, it’s usually a sign that the honey is raw, unheated, and full of natural pollen and enzymes. To re-liquify, stand in warm water for about an hour or until soft. Do not exceed 40°C.
How does your honey compare to supermarket honey?
Supermarket honey is often blended from multiple sources and sometimes mixed with sugar or syrups. Our honey is 100% pure, raw, and small-batch from our own hives.
Candles
What ingredients are in your beeswax candles?
Our candles are made from 100% pure beeswax with cotton wicks. We do not add synthetic fragrances, ensuring each candle stays natural and true to the beeswax.
What makes beeswax candles better than soy or paraffin candles?
Beeswax candles burn longer, cleaner, and naturally release a light honey aroma. They also purify the air by releasing negative ions as they burn.
How long do your candles burn?
Burn time varies by size and shape, but beeswax generally burns more slowly than other waxes. Each product listing includes an estimated burn time.
How do I care for a beeswax candle to ensure it burns evenly?
Trim the wick to about ¼ inch before each use and keep the candle away from drafts.
Are beeswax candles safe for people with allergies or asthma?
Pure beeswax candles are often well-tolerated because they don’t contain synthetic fragrances or chemical additives.
